So why did everything change from “The Creeper’s Code” to “Myriad”?
This is due to a few reasons I’ll go into down below.
1. Recognizability
A lot of the issue comes from the fact that “The Creeper’s Code” has a dozen uniquely horrible ways to be completely butchered.
“Creeper Code”, “Code Creeper”, “Creepers Code”, “TTC”, “The Creeper Code”, “Code of Creeper”. I’ve heard them all.
Despite those edge cases, the majority of the time, “TCC” was the name of choice—not a good sign for the full name.
The pack didn’t really have a solid, singular name that couldn’t be confused. Now, the worst you can do is pronounce “Myriad” as “My-ree-ad”. That’s not so bad.
2. Name vs Content
“The Creeper’s Code” doesn’t really have anything to do with what it actually has.
It’s a vanilla+ datapack, not a creeper overhaul mod.
That’s why Myriad works so much better—tons and tons of features that each do different things to form a whole.
3. Team Expansion
This pack is no longer just my code! There’s a whole team now. Well, I still do most things, but the other devs help out quite a bit.
While the name fit years and years ago when it was just a solo project, it really hasn’t aged well.
4. SEO
“Myriad” is simply better for searchability. A search for Myriad is going to pull up a whole lot less than “The Creeper’s Code” (lots of silly creeper-related stuff.)
This wasn’t a high priority when swapping the name, but it’s a nice bonus to have.
5. Growth
Better searchability, better recognizability, and a more unique brand (aka a logo that isn’t just a creeper face!) lets the stuff I pour hours and hours of time into developing be found by more people.
And hey, if you’re one of those people, thanks for joining the ride. Hope you stick around for the future.
