The second major update of the year is here, and with it brings lots of painstakingly implemented features—from a whole mansion rework (again!), to the most randomized structure in TCC history yet!
This has been quite an eventful year, and it’s not even over yet. I’ll see you all at the Smithed Direct on December 20th with quite a few huge announcements, so keep your eyes open.
Anyways, let’s get into what you all came here for: the changelog.
However, this time around, I’m going to do things a bit differently; there aren’t any images in this changelog. Instead, I’ll let the trailer show off the proper spooky vibes of the contents of the update:
Additions
Creaking Crypt
- A brand-new structure found in the pale garden
- Contains plenty of archaeology and loot to be found
- However, watch out for the undead and creaking
- There are secret rooms to be found, so make to keep your eyes open… and remember, don’t blink.
Resin Brick Pottery
- A new material for pots to be made out of
- Of course, this includes a new resin flower pot as well
- 5 of the patterns can be found in the creaking crypt, while the other 3 can be found in the mansion rework.
Resin Candy
- A new food item crafted with resin clumps and sugar
- Gives more saturation when eaten at night
- Perfect for silly Halloween-styled builds
Learning Enchantment
- A new sword enchantment that is the counterpart to looting
- It has three levels, and has the same rarity as looting
- It is mutually exclusive with looting
- It increases the amount of experience dropped from mobs
- At the third level, it doubles the amount dropped
Ancient City Loot Rework
- Ancient city loot has been reworked to include less clutter
- There are now only 2 discs: “5” and “ward”, rather than 4 discs
- Learning books, mending books, enchanted golden carrots, and soul lanterns have been added to the loot pool
- Saddles, soul torches, regeneration potions, and leads have been removed from the loot pool
Craftable Mushroom Blocks
Mushroom blocks can now be crafted from a 2×2 of mushrooms
Increased Tnt Yield
TNT is now 4x cheaper
Root Dye Recipes
You can now smelt root blocks into dyes, as follows:
- Warped Roots = Cyan Dye
- Crimson Roots = Red Dye
- Hanging Roots = Brown Dye
- Hopefully this alleviates some of the annoyance of needing to find a jungle for brown dye, while still maintaining cocoa’s usefulness
Brush Painting
When holding a brush and a dye in opposite hands, you can now brush the dye onto dyeable blocks.
This process does not use up any dye, instead using brush durability
- This works with unbreaking, meaning an unbreaking III brush can paint quite a bit
Changes
Armor Trim Addon
Added a new armor trim to the armor trim addon: Dusk, exclusively found in creaking crypts.
Woodland Mansion Rework #2
The mansion has now been brought more in line with its vanilla counterpart
- It has less overuse of stairs overall
- Some of the missing rooms from vanilla have been brought back, such as:
- The illager statue room
- The tulip shrine room
- The chicken statue room
- And much more!
- Brought back the exterior stone trim, but as a more elegant stone brick trim instead of cobblestone
Added lots of new rooms
Reworked the basement archaeology rooms:
- Now contain 3 resin pottery sherds instead of 2 brick sherds. These brick sherds have been moved to the ancient city.
- Depict creaking/pale garden content instead of other unrelated bits
- Has one guaranteed hidden room that contains a map to a creaking crypt
There are also plenty of hidden rooms accessible via chiseled bookshelf
Ancient City Archaeology
Since the woodland mansion now has resin brick pottery, the sherds found there have instead been moved to the ancient city, resulting in a few new unique archaeology sites.
Enchanter
- Enchanters are now much much more threatening
- Rather than giving a random potion effect for a short time (strength, speed, regeneration, or resistance), they instead give full damage immunity, regeneration, and a damage boost.
- This effect is telegraphed via enchanting glyph particles spawning around the mob every second, as well as sounds and particles when you hit the affected mob.
- Enchanter movement speed is now much higher as well, so you’ll struggle to catch them more often
- Enchanters will no longer target non-illager mobs, making it less likely that they waste an enchantment on a random mob lurking outside the mansion
- Enchanters now attempt to enchant mobs more often
More Flower Pots
Added a new resin brick flower pot to go with resin brick pottery
Frostbloom
Tripled the frostbloom ice rates
- This is a temporary balancing hotfix
- There will be a better fix in the future to improve ice farms
Better Metal Trapdoor Recipes
The iron/copper trapdoor recipes are now consistent with other trapdoors, and the bar recipes have been changed to use nuggets
Removals
Paintbrush
The title of this one’s a bit misleading. The painting functionality of the paintbrush isn’t removed, I removed it and replaced it with vanilla items. See brush painting.
The only downside of this is that the painting cycling feature has been removed
- However, don’t worry, we’re still looking into alternatives to make your painting experience less annoying.
