The frostbloom is a magic flower found in tundra keep chests or dug up by sniffers there. It forms snow layers around it, freezes water -> ice -> packed ice -> blue ice, fills cauldrons with powdered snow, turns lava into magma, and puts out fire.

It also damages blazes, magma cubes, and striders and heals snow golems. When bone-mealed, it drops frostbloom petals and will speed up the freezing process of blocks around it.

A frostbloom in the tundra keep

The room in the tundra keep that the frostbloom is found in.

History

1.6.0Beta 4*

Tripled the frostbloom ice rates

  • This is a temporary balancing hotfix
  • There will be a better fix in the future to improve ice farms
1.4.0-

Frostbloom petals no longer drop from iceologers and strays

  • This makes the petal exclusive as a reward to actually collecting a frostbloom
1.2.0*

While this rework is minor, these changes really add up to make the frostbloom a better reward for the tundra keep overall

Placement fixes

  • No longer require a snow layer to place
    • “Why can’t I place a frostbloom?” was one of the most commonly asked questions in the discord!
  • Placement is now more similar to vanilla flowers

Now deal damage in a 5x5x5 cube rather than a spherical volume

Now replace fire with air

Now replace lava with magma

  • This applies to flowing lava too, allowing you to create new magma farms

Mobs hurt by frostblooms now take more damage

Blazes killed by frostblooms will drop blaze rods (despite not being killed by a player)

Will not show particles if there is a block on top (but will still spawn snow layers and affect the surrounding area)
