You can now smelt warped roots into cyan dye, crimson roots into red dye, and hanging roots into brown dye. This gives you an alternative source of these dyes, albeit for a bit higher cost of smelting instead of just simple crafting.

History

1.6.0ReleaseReleased

You can now smelt root blocks into dyes, as follows:

  • Warped Roots = Cyan Dye
  • Crimson Roots = Red Dye
  • Hanging Roots = Brown Dye
    • Hopefully this alleviates some of the annoyance of needing to find a jungle for brown dye, while still maintaining cocoa’s usefulness
Beta 4Changed

Hanging roots are now included with the nether roots in dye smelting.

They can now be smelted into brown dye, giving it a secondary source.

Beta 2Changed

Replaced the smelting recipe for cyan dye from nether sprouts

  • Instead, now warped roots give cyan dye, while crimson roots give red dye
Beta 1Added

Cyan dye can now be made by smelting down nether sprouts
